Three visionaries are changing how the University of Bern collaborates with partner universities in Africa. They are doing so with two prestigious Clusters of Research Excellence. Vice Presidents of The Guild visit University of Bern

The University of Bern welcomed the Vice Presidents of The Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities. They are decision-makers on the level of Vice Rectors from all 21 member universities of The Guild. Martina Hirayama, head of the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), joined to discuss the relationship between Switzerland and the EU.

On 20 December 2021, UniBE-representatives in the working groups of The Guild held their annual get-together. They shared insights from their discussions with colleagues working at the other 20 universities of The Guild. This event was a welcome occasion to meet six newly-appointed members of The Guild working groups and our two new Vice Rectors, Virginia Richter and Hugues Abriel.

The Guild: a family of European universities

The University of Bern is a member of The Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities. The Guild is a network of 21 universities with an excellent research track record, such as the University of Bern. Since Switzerland is currently not associated to Horizon Europe, Guild membership offers a way for the University of Bern to be involved in the making of Europe’s research and education policy.
